Discussions will also focus on Africans’ views on the prevalence of gender-based violence, whether it should be treated as a criminal matter, and what happens when such cases are reported to the police.

The Afrobarometer findings will highlight gender gaps and trends in education, economic empowerment, political participation and leadership. On Tuesday March 7th, 2021 at 3pm GMT, we will host a Twitter Space with advocates and gender champions to discuss the Round 9 findings from 28 African countries on gender equality and gender-based violence. Afrobarometer is joining the international community to mark this year’s International Women’s Day, by amplifying the voices of ordinary Africans in the conversations on #EmbracingEquity.
